Justice Narratives:
Understanding the Justice Experience through Poetry
In this short film, justice is explored through poetry. The poems contextualise the current data on access to justice, and provide a deeper layer of understanding of the justice experience in South Africa.
These narratives indicate a far greater justice challenges than mere legal process: These are the stories we pass down that shape an intergenerational interaction with the law. These are the ideas that influence how, why and when we interact with the law.
The poems are performed by Devonecia Swartz, Cintaine Schutte and Sanda Shandu. The film was produced by Gideon Lombard and Willem van der Merwe of Good Egg.
It is based on a 2020 study that explored access to justice through a causal layered analysis, which can be downloaded below.
